When the Labor Contract Law and Labor Dispute Mediation and Arbitration Law were issued and subsequently broadcast through various media sources in 2008, the consciousness of most employees increased greatly, when faced with the increase in labor disputes many companies continued to use their old human resource management model. According to statistics released by the Ministry of Human Resources and Social Security of the People’s Republic of China, the number of labor dispute cases in the last 3 quarters of 2008 was 1.5 times the number for 2007. This indicates that companies may be prone to encountering more labor disputes if they are not careful in their management practices. The problem is exacerbated since most managers still don’t know how to effectively deal with labor disputes within the new legal/regulatory framework and thus the occurrence and severity of disputes may increase. Therefore, it is of paramount importance to master the necessary knowledge and skills for dealing with labor disputes. To this effect, the Chinese Training Institute schedules the training course “Labor dispute arbitration case study and conflict management” - the second installment in the “Harmonious Factories Training Series”. Mr. Wang is a Member of the China Employment Promotion Council, the vice president of the Labor Dispute and Arbitration Academy of Shenzhen City, and a member of the Labor Dispute and Arbitration Committee of Shenzhen City. Mr. Wang has been engaged in labor arbitration research for many years and has abundant experience in dealing with labor disputes and arbitration. He also has plentiful training experience on labor disputes and arbitration.
